The best of intentions...
Haha, I really had intended to write posts all the time in Georgia! Apparently that REALLY didn't happen. Oh well.
Today I got to go to an A-100 Flag Day ceremony. It was really fantastic to watch all these bright new diplomats receive their flags for their first assignments! My friend from Tbilisi, amazingly, will be heading to Ghana, just next door to us. SCORE! Now we have a designated roadtrip spot, 3-4 hours away along the coast, and vice versa! Truly, if I could have picked any post for her, I would have chosen this! (Accra is also supposed to be a great Embassy, with a nice school, etc...)
So we're heading to Lome, Togo, next. It's in west Africa; see the maps below.

We expect to head out at the end of this summer (likely late August 2014.)
We're looking forward to lots of things about the post, including:
- all things French! (It was a French colony, so they speak the language, serve the wines and cheeses, and bake fantastic breads.)
- a generally gluten-free society! (The local diet is based on yams and millet, and they make both millet and banana beer.)
- fantastic fruits and seafood!
- cheap household help! (Having three kids aged 5 and under is exhausting.)
- the beach! (Lome has gorgeous sandy beaches, with private, safe, posh beach clubs!)
